Pol as we call him in the lab has started his PhD 2018. He has been working on several projects with acanthocephalans and digeneas parasites of freshwater fishes and aquatic birds from Mexico and Middle America. He has become particularly interested on study the taxonomy and systematic of digeneas from the family Haploporidae combining molecular and morphological characters.

During his Master degree. Pol described and analyzed the systematic of the genus Saccocoelioides, a group of digeneas parasites of freshwater fishes distributed in Mexico and Middle America. His studies were published in two manuscripts. The Master program (Posgrado en Ciencias Biológicas, UNAM) recognized his studies and received the Alfonso Caso Medal, 2017. Currently Pol is working with helminths parasites of mullets from Gulf of Mexico and Pacific Ocean from Mexico and Middle America. In 2022, Pol defended his PhD. Thesis, now him started with a postdoc position at the UNAM in Merida campus with the
